#2Music Gossip:
@4
This month in Amiga music world sees the arrival of two new CDs.
The first being the new 'Everybodys girlfriend' music CD from
Mr Pleasances newly formed recording company, Tangent Music.
See previous article in the music section.
The second is the new Octamed 6 which has been put on CDROM.
The CD not only features the latest version of Octamed, version 6,
but it also includes a huge library of modules, samples and midi
files. By buying this CDROM you will have one of the best trackers
on the P.D circuit along with an instant library of music.
The beauty of it is that many of the modules are made by members
of the M.U.G and various other groups which have had their work #7More>>>
@4
put straight to the CD, this is good because there will be many
modules which won't have been heard before and you know it will have
@4
been produced on MED, not converted from protracker.
Even for people not too interested in music, it's well worth it
just to get hold of the player and the samples/modules library which
could come in useful for all sorts of things, i.e making your own
magazine, intro disks, demos etc etc.
The CD is a welcome edition to the Octamed range and is more of an
introduction to OctaMed, for new users, but those who already know
OctaMed inside out will not be put off this CD one little bit, because
it is nothing short of excellent--- #7More>>>
@4
The disc contains:
350Mb of mods
1,200 Midi files
1,000 sound samples
Octamed 6
Sound Studio
Those who are wondering when the Octamed 7.0 is coming out, wonder
no longer, because it's not coming out.
What Teijo's abandoning the Amiga?
Nah!
He's producing a new line of Med type programs, but instead they
come under the new name of Sound Studio.
@4
Sound studio is like an OctaMed the next generation (only without Geordi)
#7More>>>
@4with the ability to have up to 32 sample tracks, notation editor,
advanced sampling features, new GUI etc.
Those who are drooling already can buy the Med 6.0 CD and try
an early version of Sound Studio, though it's not complete yet
and won't be until later on in the year. However it is worth a look.
@5Calling All Amiga music fanatics--
@4
Ever been peeved off with the Amigas music capabilities when all
your P.C owning mates have 32 channel, 16bit Stereo boards?
So have I, it wicks.
Have you noticed that everytime people say what they want included in
the `new' Amigas, they never really mention the sound, instead they#7More>>
@4
drone on and on about processing power, memory and graphics?
Whatever happened to poor old sound?
Why not write in saying what you'd like to see regarding sound
capabilities on the new Amiga?
I would like to see, more powerful music packages which will take
@4
advantage of new hardware including: A good D.S.P, 16Bit 32 channel
sound and a range of filter options built in, instead of this piddly
thing we have to put up with now. How about 16Bit Hard disk recording
incorporated into trackers.
Obviously more processing power would be needed, plus more memory
and large hard disks as standard, but please don't forget one of the
key elements that made the Amiga famous in the first place, because#7More>>
@4
you can be sure it wasn't the processor and it obviously wasn't hard
disks. It was of course the 4 channel Stereo sound and its the Amigas
@4
amazing graphics capability of course.
Overall 91%------Ooops, what am I on about.
That was Pauls thought for the month.
Sponsored by the local Parish church.
Bless you my son.
